I recommend this guide (3ds.hacks.guide). It's extremely thorough; follow it exactly, and no damage should be done to your device. I myself used it to mod my own 2ds!

Once modded, you need to set up Pretendo! Their official guide is very helpful! Use Universal Updater on your system to get Nimbus, then skip to the sign in instructions!

In other matters, custom themes! Open Anemone Theme Manager, and choose to scan a qr code! You can find custom themes on Theme Plaza! Scan the code, apply the theme, easy peazy lemon squeezy!
